Service Thinking: Review & Setting Cycle

Service Thinking > Guidance > Review & Setting Cycle

Guidance Notes

Teams and Organisations should have a regular rolling process for agreeing their Objectives and the Budget, Headcount and Roadmap to deliver them.

The Process should:

  1. Update the Objectives, Budget, Headcount and Roadmap projections based on any learnings, changes to business priorities, or changes to the wider environment since the last cycle.
  2. Agree the Objectives, Budget, Headcount and Roadmap in the short to medium term against a longer-term projection.
  3. For Organisations, be backed up by an equivalent process with the Teams and sub-Organisations within in.
  4. Handle out of band or urgent re-allocations.
  5. Fund Major Change Initiatives based on balancing how much is wanted to be invested to achieve the outcome vs the evidence of what can be achieved generated through Innovation work.
  6. Use a value for money feedback loop to generate confidence in continued funding or identify where changes or pivots are required.
