Each portfolio should produce a formal end of year report that includes:
- Statements from the Portfolio Leadership Team on the delivery performance for the year, including productivity and optimisation of delivery.
- Statements from the user and customer community on the value they’ve received over the year, which might include learnings from innovation.
- Statements from Finance and Commercial on whether all financial and commercial commitments have been met.
- Statements covering a technical view, including alignment to wider functional elements such as security, data and cyber.
This report should also summarise the portfolio’s success in achieving its objectives and delivering its roadmap against its budget and headcount and should include a summary of its latest measures of success.
Note that Annual Reporting flows upwards and outwards. For example, the annual report for a Portfolio is an accumulation and aggregation of the annual report for each of its sub-portfolios and Delivery Teams. And although these reports will go up to any parent portfolio, these might also be expected to go outwards to assurance and stakeholder communities to give confidence in the performance of the portfolio.
